The Social Security Administration (SSA) provides many online services to recipients of both Disability Insurance Benefits (DIB) or Supplemental Security Income benefits (SSI).
For people currently receiving benefits, the SSA allows them to create a “My Social Security” account. You can create the account by going to the SSA’s website. Please click here for a direct link.
After the recipient has created the account, they are able to request a benefit verification letter, check benefits and payment information, or view their earnings record.
Recipients of DIB or SSI benefits can also use the account to change their address or phone number, and start or change direct deposit of benefits.
There are still services you can use online if you have not created an account. Some of these services are: requesting a replacement Medicare card, obtaining Form 1099/1042S — Social Security Benefit Statement (not available for SSI); and selecting or changing the way you receive information from Social Security if you are blind or visually impaired. You can also apply online for extra help with your Medicare prescription drug plan costs.
