Changes in Medicaid, Opening of State and Federal Insurance Exchanges

Despite the government shutdown, the previously enacted Affordable Care Act rolled out on October 1, 2013.  Depending on your state, there may be extended eligibility for Medicaid.  Even if you have applied and been denied previously for some form of government healthcare, we strongly encourage you to contact your city, county, or state government to see if you may now be eligible for extended benefits.

Furthermore, the Affordable Care Act has led to the creation of a federal insurance exchange, or, depending on your state, a state insurance exchange.  For more information about the federal and state Health Insurance Marketplace, including directions to your individual state marketplace, visit this website and select your state in the menu at the bottom.  If you need further assistance, we encourage you to seek the assistance of your government representatives.
